So it’s not surprising that a 5 year old boy name Jayden Zapata touched us in a way that compelled us to do something to help his situation. That’s why just over 8 weeks ago, we decided that our next “Rock Ur Heart Out” event had to be around this very special little boy.
Jayden isn’t just any 5 year old boy, although if you talked to him he’d tell you he’s just like all the kids. At a year and half Jayden was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and he has been in a wheelchair all his life. Recently while watching him play, he was like all the other kids, that is until they headed off to the playground where Jayden’s wheelchair was of no use. And while he would never complain, the longing in his eyes was clear; and it was at that moment it was also clear that we needed to step up to the plate and raise the money so desperately needed to get Jayden a $15,000 Cord Blood Transplant.
Doctor’s say that if the Cord Blood Transplant is successful, Jayden will be able to walk. Consider how such a small amount of money can have such a great impact on Jayden now and for the rest of his life. Jayden will be able to do what we all take for granted every day of our lives. We can do this! We can raise this money with your help!
Rock Ur Heart Out’s “Rock 2 Walk (The Jayden Zapata Foundation) will be on Saturday, October 24th, 2009. The event will be held at Turtle Bay Tavern on 52nd and 2nd, from 6pm-10pm. Since the decision was made to help Jayden, so many generous individuals and organizations have been showering us with love and support. On October 23rd there will be a rock concert and the bands will all donate their proceeds to Jayden. The owner of McGarry’s Pub is raffling off a Flat Screen TV as well as other gifts with all of the proceeds going to Jayden. Here’s the most spectacular occurrence of all. The Legendary DJ Kool Mike Ski, will be attending the event on the 24th. He’s been involved in the promotion and fundraising from the very beginning. He and his wife have decided that when their son decides to make his arrival into this world, they will name him, you guessed it… JAYDEN!!! The due date, ironically, is just three days before Jayden’s birthday. Talk about powerful.
There is going to be a child born into this world named after one of Rock Ur Heart Out’s beneficiaries, and it doesn’t get much more moving or inspirational than that. A huge ‘thank you’ is in order to all involved. This is the true mission of Rock Ur Heart Out and the exact reason it was founded. Bringing so many different people together, united as one, focused on a specific goal and we can move mountainns! Special thanks Jayden and his family for showing us the power of determination.
